French Apple pie

Ingredients:

Shortcake dough

165 g flour

pinch of salt

120 g of oil at room temperature

1 egg yolk

2 tablespoons cold water

120 g of oil at room temperature

100 g sugar

1 egg

1 egg yolk

120 g finely chopped almonds

2 teaspoons ground flour

550 g of sweet apples peeled, without seeds, cut into slices

sugar for decoration

a pinch of cinnamon

pinch of cloves, ground

Preparation:

In a small bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the diced or grated grated cold butter to grind with your fingers until a crumbly mixture (or crank up quickly in a food processor). Add the yolk and water, mix quickly until the dough is collected in a ball. Put into the refrigerator for min 1 hour can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 days.

For the filling, RUB the softened butter with 1/2 Cup of sugar until a tender air mass can be obtained, using a mixer. Gradually add egg and remaining yolk. Add 2 tablespoons of flour to the crushed almonds, mix and add to the filling. Stir, set aside for a while.

Roll out the dough into a round layer slightly larger than the diameter of the mold. Fold twice in half and transfer to the form. Spread the dough evenly and press to the bottom and walls of the mold. Chop with a fork and refrigerate for at least half an hour.

Preheat oven to 200°C

Put the filling on top of the dough. Spread out the slices of apples, laying out on each other in a circle. The edge of the Apple slice on the one hand should be pressed into the filling, and the other put on the next Apple. Apples stack in the direction from an external edge to the center.

Bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes until the filling starts to brown. Reduce the temperature to 180° C and bake for another 10 minutes. Sprinkle the cake with sugar and bake for another 10 minutes or until the sugar is caramelized.

Remove from oven and cool completely. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
