CHILDPROOFING YOUR LOVE LIFE
Okay. We know what the problem is. But how do we solve it? If sex is so important, but we arenât always geared up for it, how do we bridge that gap?
Communicate: This involves talking and paying attention, and therefore some men may bristle at having to discuss their feelings: too bad. You can explain that although you want to want to have sex, youâre exhausted by caring for kids all day and, frankly, you sometimes feel unappreciated. He can then explain that heâs exhausted by working all day and sometimes feels unappreciated but, hey, he still wants to have sex. The point is, talking is better than not talking. And although talking often isnât a turn-on for men, it can be a big turn-on for women, so much so that such verbal intimacy can lead to physical intimacy.
Indecent Proposals
Among the distressing side effects of the information age is that men (and yes, women) can now be unfaithful from the comfort of their home. Porn, sex chat rooms, and even local liaisons are all available via the Internet. A husband wanting to play out an embarrassing fantasy, or one frustrated by his wifeâs child-induced exhaustion and sexual indifference, can get his kicks (and ready attention and gratification) by surfing the web. Similarly, a lonely Stay-at-Home mom desperate to feel attractive and alive has more options than to seduce the general contractor whoâs renovating her kitchen.
