People wondered, could computers do the same job while being smaller and cheaper? The answer was found in silicon. Silicon is a special material. Silicon chips are used now instead of punch cards. Silicon is the reason computers can be so small today!
These days, some computers can fit into our pockets. Smartphones are a kind of computer. Digital watches have computers inside too.
