2. Marketing & Advertising
After all, this book is called The Marketing Fallacy , so the marketing and advertising department making a list should not surprise you. This is the department responsible for your brand . It will drive customers to you.
Having written this book to showcase the value of portraying your business as a large company, it should indeed be noted that as a small business, you wonât be able to staff a large marketing team with a massive budget and complex team structure. If you could, you probably wouldnât need this book in the first place. But you donât need all of that to create a killer marketing and advertising department. One person can run this department comfortably. Youâll need to hire an IT literate individual with knowledge in marketing and promotions. The reason this person must be IT savvy and with some technical background is due to the ever-changing business landscape. As business and life, in general, continue to move online you need people on your team who will traverse this new terrain. Platforms like Google Skillshop, LinkedIn and edX, offer low-cost and, sometimes, free courses that you can use to train new hires.
Your client demand and workload will always dictate the number of people to place in each department, but it is wise to start with one, train and perfect them, then grow slowly and expand as required.
