Divination Rites

Once you have your divination tool sourced, it needs spiritual preparation before you begin to use it. It is best to first cleanse the tool, to ensure that any unwanted spiritual residues from how it was made or from anyone’s hands it may have passed through are neutralized. Then it should be consecrated, blessing it for divination with the divinities appropriate to it or whom you are in relationship with. This practice allows you to specify what entities can speak through it by placing the tool under the guardianship of gods or spirits you trust. It is the spiritual equivalent of installing a lock or password, preventing interference from random unwanted spirits when you sit down to divine with the tool. This protection can also be enhanced by inscribing the spirits’ names, sigils, or other protective marks on the container.

Tools for cleansing, such as blessing water or incense.

A candle.

An offering suitable for the spirits whom you’ll be consecrating this tool to.

Your divination tool.

A container to store the tool in.
