Marilyn was livid that Eric didn’t invite her and Spencer to go on his boat. In fact, she had never been on his damned boat, though she’d heard about it and his belonging to the yacht club. Now he’d asked Tenesia and Beverly’s lover to join them for a cruise on the Detroit River.
Take a deep breath and calm down, girl. Things won’t stay the way they are right now forever.
Marilyn reminded herself that she was the one who knew how to get Eric up and keep him going, not Beverly. It was only a matter of time now before he learned of her betrayal and kicked her to the curb. That’s when I’ll step in and show him the type of woman he truly wants .
She thought about Beverly’s laughable predicament. Dante and Eric as pool buddies, with Tenesia ready and willing to open her legs for Dante. It was something that Marilyn imagined Tenesia would have been willing to do for Eric, too, had she not beaten her to the punch. While Beverly was so hung up on Tenesia going after her man, she’d never considered that Marilyn would be the one to seduce him and keep him coming back for more. It pleased her knowing that Beverly had been so shortsighted, which worked wholly to her advantage, rather than Tenesia’s.
Now that Tenesia was back in town and still on Beverly’s radar, it was a perfect scenario for Marilyn. She would use Tenesia to further drive a wedge between Eric and Beverly, causing Beverly to act even more reckless in sleeping with her lover man, Dante. That way, Eric would see her for what she truly was: a tramp who couldn’t satisfy him or be faithful to the man who put her up in a grand style Beverly didn’t deserve.
Marilyn was in her car when she phoned Eric. He answered right away. “I need to see you,” she said stiffly.
“I’ve been thinking about you too,” he said seductively.
“Can you get a room at the motel?” Her voice softened. She wanted to make him feel like a man before laying into him.
“When?”
“I can be there in an hour.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” Eric said.
Marilyn assumed that meant he would be there. She hung up and turned her thoughts to Tenesia, ready to pay her a little visit. While they were cool, there had always been some distance between them in vying for Beverly’s friendship. Now that she had won the battle, thanks to some misinformation and Tenesia’s own weaknesses and inability to regain Beverly’s trust, Marilyn hoped to take full advantage of that for her own purposes. Namely, to have Eric all to herself.
She pulled into the driveway of the small brick house where Tenesia’s mother lived. Marilyn imagined that Tenesia must have really been hard up to have to come crawling back to her momma. Better her than me . She put on lip gloss, then got out of the car and headed up a pebbled walkway. She rang the doorbell and collected her thoughts while waiting to see Tenesia again.
