Dreams Believed

Voices.

That’s all I heard, and they started to merge, like points in time were trying to fuse together. First, it belonged to the clown. The cocky jester, only now he wasn’t laughing anymore. His tone wasn’t one of mockery like it had been that first night in Jared’s club.

No, now it was serious.

“I don’t know what to tell you, J… I can’t understand why but I just know what I felt,” he said in a dire tone.

“And what the fuck is that?!” Jared demanded on an angry snarl.

“A lot of pain.” Marcus sighed and Jared’s reply to this was a growl, one that was low and threatening.

“Then I missed something, and she needs a doctor,” Jared snapped.

“That’s just it, J… you didn’t miss anything,” Marcus replied, making Jared snarl in frustration,

“Marcus, don’t fuck around!” I heard someone sigh before Marcus then told him,

“She feels pain but it’s… it’s like something I’ve never encountered before, as if her mind is used to it… the pain, it’s like it’s been accepted but she is not physically harmed, I checked,” he said, making Jared sound furious when he snapped,

“You did what!?”

“Mentally, I checked… fuck, I am not suicidal, J. I didn’t touch anything but the girl’s mind, like you ordered me too, remember?” Marcus replied sharply.

“Will it hold?” Jared asked, ignoring what he just said. Marcus exhaled and Jared snapped again,

“Will her memories hold, Marcus?!”

“For now, yes, she will have no recollection of this night other than getting away from them after pulling her gun. What she does after that, if something were to trigger her hidden memories, then who knows… this isn’t exactly my skill set, J… I’m not the fucking Vampire King here,” he replied, making me toss around, trying to grip on to the conversation I could hear. One I heard outside my window. One I heard whilst sleeping.

Was it all just another dream?

“Have some of our men watch her. Order them to do so from afar just to be sure,” Jared said in that commanding tone of his.

“I think that’s wise. And well, if she goes and books a flight to London intent on hunting your ass down, then we will know for sure.” Jared growled at that, like he did after almost everything Marcus had said up to this point.

“She won’t remember me. She can’t!” Jared declared, making my entire body tense. He didn’t want me to remember him… but why? The pain increased because of it.

“Where you are you going now?” Marcus asked and the last thing I heard Jared say before even more darkness overtook me was as startling as it was frightening,

“First, I have to take care of a dead man still breathing, after that… I have a Draven to call.”
