Nancy Wake was a fearless fighter and one of the greatest war heroines of all time. Not many women in the 1940s spent their time killing members of the Gestapo with their bare hands or marching 7,000 male resistance fighters through the woods to liberate France. Nancy Wake lived her life as a badass until the end of her days.

Nancy Wake was born in Wellington, New Zealand on August 30, 1912. She was the youngest of six siblings and was born into an impoverished family. When she was a baby, her family relocated to Sydney, Australia, where she lived until she was 16 years old.
