Chapter Six
Together, they headed to the Firm.
When they arrived, Vlad confirmed that his target had already squealed like a pig. The problem was, the name heâd given them didnât make sense. But to the target, it was real. Theyâd tortured him to within an inch of his life and he was still saying the same thing.
The target was tied to a chair in the center of the room. Seated in a chair across from him, was Vlad, holding a pair of plyers. Heâd removed his jacket and the sleeves of his white button-down were rolled up past his elbows.
But it was still stained with blood. Scar walked over to them and stood next to Vladâs chair. Nik pulled out a chair. Its legs scraped against the floor as he pulled it over to the target then flipped it around. He straddled it then faced the target.
âSo⦠Bernard,â Nik said. âYour name is Bernard, right?â
âR-right,â the target answered.
âOkay, Bernard. Are you sure you gave us your bossâs real name?â
âI swearâ¦. I swearâ¦. We call him Pluto. Thatâs his name. Thatâs the only name he gave us. Heâs the one who hired us to attack the guests at the wedding.â
âAny particular guests?â Scar asked.
âNo. Just guests. Not the brides and grooms. Just the guests. He told us to target mainly the women. Children, if we wanted. But all of us agreed not to shoot children.â
What kind of sick fuck would order a hit like that? More so, what kind of sick fuck would accept an order like that?
âWe didnât have to kill. Only wound.â
âDid you think you were going to get out alive?â Scar asked.
The idiot nodded. âWe had guns. The guests wouldnât have guns. People donât usually bring guns to a wedding.â
Nik, Vlad, Scar, and the Soldiers removed their weapons and showed them to him. The target swallowed.
âWe, uh, we didnât expect the guests to have guns.â
It seemed they werenât prepared for their mission at all. Liam was right. They were amateurs.
âStupid motherfuckers are shooting up places all the time,â Nike told the man. âSchool shootings, church shootings, concert shootings. People are tired of being afraid. Theyâre carrying now. Even if we werenât strapped, Iâm sure some of those guests were.â
They werenât. Liam made sure of it. Nik was just trying to make a point. People were tired of being afraid of mass shooters. They were doing whatever they had to in order to protect themselves and their family.
The target nodded. âI⦠we didnât think about that. We didnâtâ¦â
âTell him what else you told us,â Vlad instructed.
âOh, uhâ¦â The target cleared his throat. âThis place here, I know this place. Uh, uh, our boss also had people break in and trash this place. I wasnât one of the men on the team who did it. But I knew about it.â
These bitches were the ones whoâd trashed the Firm. For a while, Dean thought Garrett was behind it. That was back when Dean and Garrett were on bad terms. Until now, they assumed the Triad had something to do with it.
