Healing Beyond Borders

The foundation of Healing Touch builds upon the ancient and contemporary sources supporting biofield therapies while taking the presentation, synthesis, and practice of these therapies into the future. Healing Beyond Borders (HBB) considers the practice of Healing Touch an intentional heart-centered biofield therapy.

Healing Touch International, Inc., is the Healing Touch nonprofit professional membership, educational, and credentialing organization founded by Janet Mentgen, RN, in 1996. The organization’s name was rebranded to Healing Beyond Borders in 2013 to better reflect its vision and mission. The vision of Healing Beyond Borders is Spreading Healing, Light, and Love, Creating Wholeness on Earth.

Healing Touch is an energy-based biofield therapy that uses standardized, noninvasive techniques that clear, energize, and balance the human and environmental energy fields. Classified by the National Institutes of Health as a biofield therapy, Healing Touch may be used as a nursing intervention to address the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA-1) diagnosis of Imbalanced Energy Field.

Healing Touch is used in collaboration with other Western medicine and integrative approaches to health and healing. Healing Touch is used in hospital settings, hospice centers, nursing homes, spas, clinics, and private practices to support the well-being of individuals, including reducing the effects of stress, strengthening the immune system, and decreasing pain. It is often used before and after surgery. Used before surgery, Healing Touch can help calm a patient. After surgery and, where allowed, during surgery, Healing Touch can help reduce pain and speed the healing process.
