Feline
Power Animals
Prowling his own quiet backyard or asleep by the fire,
he is still only a whisker away from the wilds.

The majority of magical practitioners eventually end up working with a power animal—some type of creature they admire or are fascinated by. A power animal is an animal that you feel connected to during your life. In truth, the terms power animal, totem animal, and animal ally are often used interchangeably. A good way to identify your feline power animal is to ask yourself which type of cat do you feel most drawn to—the domestic cat or one of its wild cousins?
With a power animal, you draw upon the entire species for its strength and abilities. Feline power animals are symbolic of the specific kinds of energy we are magickally creating in our lives. These energies help to illuminate our own natural powers and enchanting gifts. By studying these various feline energies, we can call upon them whenever we need to. This gives us a way to connect the spiritual world to our physical lives.
Once upon a time, humans were a part of the natural world. We did not hold ourselves separate or above the animals, plants, and elements. We were all a part of the cosmic whole. In this time, magick was as common as raindrops, and it was a part of everyday life. Gods and goddesses were associated with animals, and some deities were in animal form, such as Bast and Sekhmet. People walked in harmony with the rhythms of the earth and with all its creatures.
All animals have a lesson to teach, it’s up to us to tune in and discover what lessons they are waiting to share.
Domestic Cat
Felis catus, the domestic cat, may be invoked for a sense of independence, magick, divination, and grace. As a power animal, the cat symbolizes those individuals who are graceful, mysterious, mystical, and sensual. By sensual I mean that they enjoy being surrounded by beautiful things, luxurious-feeling fabrics for furniture and clothing, and striking colors. Cat people are smart and self-confident. However, they demand creature comforts, enjoy long naps, and relish the finer things in life. Sometimes, cat energy shows up in your life when you need to be on your guard. The cat is encouraging you to be more careful and watchful of situations and people that surround you. Put things back in balance and focus on what is the most important. People who are drawn to the domestic cat as a power animal should consider working more often with the cat-headed goddess Bast. Bast can help you come to a deeper understanding of the enchanted cat. With her help you will be able to comprehend the energies, gifts, and strengths of this most magickal animal.
Tiger
The tiger (Panthera tigris) approaches its prey silently and slowly, then they lie in wait and pounce at the perfect moment. The tiger is one of the few felines who actually likes to swim. If you are drawn to the tiger, then you
