As Narwhal got ready to work, Howie returned to the dressing room to show Duck around. “And this is your dressing table. What do you think, Duck?”

“Where is the booger chair?”

“Well,” Howie said, “as an entertainer, you can ask for any perks you want.”

“Okay,” Duck said, blinking slowly. “I want a sack of gravel.”

Howie chuckled. “You can ask for a little more than that.”

Duck blinked again. He thought. He thought some more. “Oh. Then a sack of gravel … and a small cup, also full of gravel.”

“Oh-kay,” Howie agreed. “Now, are you ready to go out there and entertain that audience?”

Duck paused to think again.

Blink.

Blink.

Think.

“I will need my hammer,” he finally said. He headed toward the door to search for it.

Howie stopped him. “No, no, no. Why don’t you just sing? Folks like singing.”

“Okay,” Duck agreed. “I am a good singer.”

Blink.

Blink.

“Well?” Howie prompted.

“Where is my gravel?” Duck cried.
