"Eden." A familiar voice drifted to me in the darkness. "Come on, Eden, you have to wake up."

"Five more minutes." I grumbled and covered my eyes with my forearm.

A wave of deja vu hit me like a freight train, and I sat straight up.

I gasped at the sight of Jade standing in the doorway. She wore the exact outfit as she had before, and sure enough, her voice was just as annoying.

"What?" She asked curiously. "I thought I looked cute today."

She tugged at the corner of whatever designer top she wore, about which I obviously didn't give a shit.

"What is this?" I eyed her suspiciously. "What the hell did you do to me? Is this you and Asher? Are you playing some sort of sick fucking joke on me? Because it's not funny, and I will make you pay." My fists were clenched at my sides just as tightly as they had been before.

Now it was less about anger and more about fear.

I had no idea what in the flying fuck was going on. I didn’t know what was real or not, and in moments like that, anything becomes possible.

That's a scary fucking thought.

"What are you talking about?" Jade laughed the paranoia off and pulled her phone from her pocket just as carefree as she always had. "I came to tell you that I need you to take my shift at the coffee shop today. Charlie is taking me out on daddy's yacht."

I watched her twirl a section of her long blonde hair around her finger, and it was just as annoying as it was the first time.

Only this time, I was even more confused than I'd been before.

Which was hard to beat.

I stared at her in disbelief.

I didn't get it. How could she stand there and act like we hadn't just done all of it over just a few minutes ago?

And had I really made up all the guys?

If they were a dream, they were a wet one. I knew that much.

A honk came from outside, right on cue, and Jade finally looked up from her glowing screen. She feigned puppy dog eyes and flashed the sympathetic smile that her parents paid to straighten.

"Please?"

"Yes, fine." I nodded, just to get her out of my face.

I listened again to her footsteps as they trailed down the stairs and out the door before the car drove away, and the house was silent once again.

After a few seconds alone to breathe my heart finally got itself under control enough to talk some sense into myself.

This kind of thing happens all the time. People have dreams inside of dreams. You're nothing special.

After a while of drilling that into my head, I could finally confidentiality lie to myself and say I believed it.

I pushed myself up from my bed and slid into the shower. From there I followed my normal routine.

Shower. Clothes. Quick breakfast. Out the door with just enough time to make it to the coffee shop to open.
