It was the July long weekend and we had rented a cottage in the Muskokas. What should have been a two and a half hour drive ended up being closer to four thanks to all the holiday traffic. We were into month three of our contract with Faith this was our first time away.

We all took the weekend off, even Christian who usually worked Saturdays. Part of me wished I had joined Luc and Christian earlier in this type of arrangement but I think it only worked for me because I liked spending so much time with Faith. She listened to me obsess about video games and eighties and nineties cartoons and asked me questions. I didn’t think she was feigning interest either, she was genuinely interested.

She even watched old shows with me on YouTube. She loved The Smoggies which was also called Stop The Smoggies, a show that ran the late eighties to early nineties and was basically a cartoon about the Suntots who were all about fun and protecting the planet stopping The Smoggies a group of people who wanted to pollute the planet. She also really liked the t.v. show Dinosaurs. This girl was after my own heart.

I had bought her a new laptop when I saw the old one she had been using. She had brought it over so I could load some old shows on it, and I questioned her about it. She told me it worked fine but then I actually had to work with it and it was a horrible old thing. She protested the hell out of it when I gave her the new one telling me it was too much.

It was almost $3,000 as it was a top of the line brand new MacBook but we hadn’t really bought her anything. She wasn’t the type of person who liked expensive jewelry so the least we could do was replace her junker of a computer. This was our first trip away with her too. I needed to talk to the guys about upping how much we gave her because she wasn’t really getting any other perks.

We got to the cottage, which was a giant three-bedroom log home with giant windows that overlooked the lake, a huge dock with tons of water toys including a motor boat, and a 6 person hot tub on the patio. It was secluded which was rare these days, our closest neighbour was a kilometer away and we couldn’t see them.

I eyed the hot tub, knowing that we were definitely going to have sex in it. I had the pleasure of being in the back seat with Faith on the way here. Mostly because Luc was the one most used to driving in Toronto traffic. We definitely made out a good portion of the drive, which earned me some glares from Luc and Christian but oh well.

We grabbed our bags from the truck as well as the cooler that held the groceries we brought and hauled everything into the cottage.
