Tim had a bit of a struggle trying to find his way out of the massive compound. He knew Brad had done his finances right, but he certainly didn’t expect the condominium to be this big, and with every area kept so discreetly private that he couldn’t see into the next. It made navigation around the deceptively small-looking compound hard, and the scotch certainly wasn’t helping.

More than once he wondered how much time had passed being trapped in this maze, but only to look at his watch and note that barely a minute had passed. He would then smile, and consider if he was stuck in some temporal anomaly like those he read in his favourite science-fiction stories, or like the time-loop that recently made an appearance in a recent movie. He would look up to the apartment that he had just left from time to time, but from his vantage point, all the light appeared to be off, and not a sign of activity to be seen - maybe he was looking at the wrong apartment, but then again, all the flats appeared to be silent.

Perhaps this is one of the quiet estates, he thought, groggy from the alcohol. Wouldn’t be surprising, seeing how isolated and out-of-the-way they are. His mind wandered to Tina over and over, wondering if she’d be ok here, and whether he had made the right choice letting her stay with Brad, even with all the background checks and the chemistry they had. It seemed logical back then to let her stay with her fuck buddy (or breeder, as Tina joked about it), but he wasn’t so sure about it right now. He couldn’t focus, however, and he figured he might as well concentrate his limited mental attention on getting out.

Security finally caught his attention, and directed him to the taxi stand, where a number of taxis were already waiting for passengers. He hopped on the first one that would bring him to the airport, and let the journey pass him by in silence. A smooth check-in and boarding process led to him being on the business class suite early, and another two shots of whiskey let him sleep the rest of the way - but not before noting that one of the other passengers, a lady, seated diagonally in front of him had a familiar body shape and gait.

But he was drifting off to sleep by the time he noticed; he would just have to figure it out when he woke up and was sober.
