Chapter Thirteen

When Ashton first opened his eyes and saw Dani leaning over him, he thought he was dreaming. It wouldn’t have been the first time her beautiful face showed up in his most intimate fantasies. But when he realized it wasn’t a dream, that she was really staring down at him, it took a moment to remember where he was, and in a rush, the day’s events came crashing back.

Now, as Ashton stared into her passion-filled eyes, something so incredibly powerful surged through his body and shook him to the depths of his being. He didn’t bother trying to make it make sense in his head. All he wanted to do was love on this woman and show her how much he adored her.

“Detective?” Dani said slowly, and her brows furrowed.

Ashton blinked several times, and his gaze jockeyed between her eyes and her kissable lips, and his dick throbbed with wanting to be buried inside of her.

“Are you sure you’re awake?” she asked.

“I’m just savoring this moment. You—in my bed—looking breathtakingly sexy. I’m mentally photographing you while imagining all the things I want to do to your luscious body. You have no idea what you do to me.”

A smile spread across her mouth. “Oh…I see.”

“Do you, though?” Still on all fours, Ashton crawled even closer to her, close enough to smell her alluring fragrance of jasmine and gardenias that always made him want to bury his nose against her neck. “Dani, I have wanted you for a long time. If you’re not ready for—”

“Just stop talking and kiss me.”

Ashton didn’t have to be told twice. The moment their mouths touched, he slipped his tongue between her parted lips and devoured her sweetness. Without breaking their connection, he eased her back against the pillows and covered her body with his.

Dani moaned into his mouth as he kissed her hungrily, and with each lap of his tongue, his desire for her rose higher, and the hammering of his pulse pounded loudly in his ears.

He wanted to familiarize himself with every inch of her, and all he had to do was stay in control and take his time. That was proving to be harder than he wanted, though. The feel of her hands exploring his heated body was wreaking havoc on his senses. He was so hard and ready for her, it felt as if he was going to explode.

One of his hands roamed slowly down her body, gliding over her curves as their tongues tangled and the sexual intensity between them grew. But Ashton sucked in a breath when Dani started stroking his dick. Slowly at first, her soft hand slid up and down his length, and the firm hold she had on him created just enough friction and pleasure to have him panting for air.
