Chapter Forty-Two

It had been three months since Maya moved back to Tampa, and I felt like I didn’t even know her anymore. I stalked Maya via Facebook since I found out she was in Tampa. Maya had linked up with some broad who wasn’t about shit, and they were in the clubs turning up every other night. Literally doing bald headed hoe shit!

I called Maya everyday for a week when she initially left. By week two, Maya changed her phone number and the only communication that we had after that was with Ms. Mary. It took Ms. Mary a couple of weeks to recognize Maya’s detrimental behavior. Once Ms. Mary realized that we were only trying to help, she issued an apology to me and Reggie. After no communication this entire time, Maya called out of the blue two weeks ago saying she was coming to get RJ, so he could relocate with her to Tampa. Reggie really lost his cool and snapped on her.

Reggie offered to help Maya move back to Raleigh, and we would help her get back on her feet and made sure that she was straight. But Maya refused and said she would be there to pick RJ up before she disconnected the call, and we hadn’t heard from her since.

I love Maya to death. I would do anything to help her overcome the hardships she was facing. After seeing her posted up with a bunch of different niggas and bitches swapping spit on Snapchat and constantly showing her body off on Instagram, I was on the same page as Reggie. I was done with her ass. Nevertheless, I still wanted her to get her shit together for RJ’s sake.

“Babe you ready?” Reggie inquired as he walked into the bathroom with a five month old RJ in his arms.

“Almost,” I said as I looked myself over in the mirror before applying a coat of Fenty stunna lip paint in chocolate brown. “I’m ready now.”

Today was the day of the grand opening of our new restaurant. We had a soft opening two months ago and had been operating the restaurant minimally while we worked out the kinks and made sure everything was perfect. I had to step up and take over a lot of the work once Angel suffered the miscarriage. Angel still wanted every little detail ran by her. Me and Shad just wanted to ensure that the Angel took it easy and was able to heal physically and mentally. Over the last week, Angel was not trying to hear that. She was at the restaurant from sunup to sundown, making sure the smallest details were in place. I had no problem with that because my expertise was in marketing, and I had been slacking in that area.

“You talked to Ms. Mary this week?” Reggie asked as he maneuvered through traffic, making our way to the restaurant.

“She called to have a FaceTime session with RJ for a little while on Thursday while you and Shad were playing basketball with the boys.
