The catch? She would continue to get a pay check every week from my business even though she wasn’t there. My two other employees offered to cover her office workload while she was out.

I also arranged for more than a dozen volunteers to show up one Saturday and put in hours that would count toward her 300 hours needed to receive her home. My goal was to get her and her child in that house before cold weather hit.

Not every business can do what our business did for Lauren. However, it is my belief that any small gift, not always monetary, goes a long way in creating quality employees. As we empower others, we show them what it means to lead.
