The first major win for the 458 Italia was scored at Le Mans in 2012 by Toni Vilander, Gianmaria Bruni, and Giancarlo Fisichella—fitting, as these turned out to be the three most successful drivers in 458 history.
HISTORICAL TIDBIT
The success of a race car can be measured in part by how many teams choose to buy and race it. There were no fewer than fourteen 458s at Le Mans in 2014—and nineteen at Spa later that year.
KEY PERSON
In the States, the 458 flag was carried most proudly by Risi Competizione in Houston, Texas. Founder Giuseppe Risi owns the first dealership to be awarded after Ferrari North America was created in 1979.
