Chapter 11

Unfolding of the Secrets

Sarah is a great confidant. Her family trusts her to keep their secrets safe in her heart. She doesn’t judge or question. She lets them be, quietly supporting them.

Sarah woke up content from the events of yesterday. She did her morning routine of yoga in front of the cottage, took a shower, got out of the house, and started walking to the house guard to request him to call for a taxi. In the parking of the grand house, she saw Kian addressing the farm security guards. He noticed her pacing and exclaimed.

Kian:

Good morning angel! I have been waiting for you.

Sarah:

Are you going to accompany me? What about your meeting with Kate?

Kian:

That is in the evening. Don’t worry. I have everything under control.

Sarah:

Since when have you been waiting here for me?

Kian:

I have been here from the time you were doing yoga on the front porch. The garden has lovely flowers growing since the time you moved. Also, why don’t you ask me to join you for these yoga sessions?

I am a big fan of exercising.

Sarah:

You are going to be married soon, and your fiancée dislikes me from the bottom of her heart, so I am restricting myself from being around you or causing any problem in your relationship.

Kian:

That’s why you have been distancing yourself from me recently. I wish I could let you in on a massive secret, but I don’t dare to risk your safety.

Sarah:

I have to tell you something. Frank offered me a brilliant opportunity to go on a tour with him to meet and attend interviews of great writers and I am planning to accept the invitation. I won’t be around for your wedding, which I think is the best for all.

Kian:

Yes, I am aware. Pearl informed me that Frank and you might not make it to the wedding ceremony. I don’t have a problem with that.

Sarah (in a low tone):

Please, think one more time before you commit to Kate. I know this is not the time to back off, but it is better than regretting it in the future. Paul once told me to speak to you to rethink your decision of marrying Kate, but I don’t have the right to stop you from doing what your heart desires. Grooms-to-be are supposed to be happy and smiling but I see no smile on your face, Kian.

Kian was quiet and driving without taking his gaze off the road. Sarah wanted to hold his hand and tell him that she knew Kate’s secret, but she didn’t want the two brothers to fight and thus kept quiet. In time, they reached the advocate’s office.

Kian:

I will be waiting here. Too annoying to find a parking space in this area.

Sarah dashed to the lawyer’s office, read all the necessary documents, and signed on the transfer of the property papers for one of the plots that had come under her name. The lawyer thanked her for the time and efforts in helping these original landowners. They both walked downstairs to where the car was.
