Chapter Twenty
Sammy
âHey, we just passed Brandonâs dorm,â I said, craning my neck as Krystal drove too fast down Woodward Ave.
âOh cool, heâs really close.â Krystal turned around from the front seat. âJust think, if you donât like the frat guys at this party, you can come hang out with Brandon.â
âI think Iâd like that better anyway,â I mumbled. This whole trip was a bad idea. The last time Iâd been exposed to alcohol hadnât ended well. I could just imagine how much alcohol would be flowing at a college frat party.
âDylan promised there would be lots of cool guys at this party,â Kat said, not taking her eyes off the road. The guy Kat had met on the ski slopes at Boyne Highlands was cute and did seem to have some pretty hot friends, if his Instagram profile was any indication. âUnless youâre still holding out for Brandon?â
âYou never know. Maybe weâll end up married someday.â I stuck my chin in the air.
âYour babies would be beautiful, thatâs for sure,â Krystal said.
I sighed, and a smile pulled at the corner of my lips. âFor sure.â
âHere we are,â Kat said, slowing down the car.
âOh my gosh, is this a front yard? Or a parking lot?â I marveled at the sheer number of cars.
âEach one of those cars represents at least one hot guy.â Krystal rubbed her hands together in anticipation. âHey, maybe Dylanâs friend Justin will be here.â
âIâm pretty sure he will be,â Kat said. âTheyâre in the same fraternity.â She pulled into a makeshift parking spot and pulled down the vanity mirror.
âThat was a fun nightâ¦â Krystal pulled down the mirror on the passenger side of the car.
âThat was a fun weekend,â Kat said and then giggled.
âYou guys are disgusting.â I rolled my eyes, remembering the stories theyâd told after Christmas break. Theyâd gone a little crazy with some college guys and didnât seem to have any shame about their behavior. âThatâs all you think about anymore.â
âHey, donât knock it until youâve tried it.â Krystal gave her twin a fist bump, and then they both opened their car doors.
âIâm not trying it until Iâm older, thank-you-very-much.â I climbed out of the back seat and followed them toward the house. âAnd in love. And not a one-night stand.â
âThat was two nights.â Kat hid behind a fake cough. âAt least weâre still talking. Krystal didnât even give Justin her phone number.â
âHe didnât ask.â Krystal tugged at her much too short miniskirt and bounced up the stairs to the somewhat well-maintained frat house, which had once been a stately home.
Kat held back, typing on her cell phone. âHe says heâs coming to the door.â
As if on cue, the large door swung open and a stereotypical, clean-cut rich kid stood in the doorway. He grabbed Krystal around the waist and pulled her close. âHi, Kat, glad you made it.â
I snickered at his mistake and Kat cleared her throat from down in the yard. âDylan, that is my twin sister, Krystal.â
âHi, Krystal.â Dylan pulled her a little closer.
