Alden walked back to the woods.

“Beaver! Beaver!” he called. “I need more bamboo!” The beaver appeared.

“Only if you can guess my name,” the beaver said.

“It’s Beaver Bob, right?” asked Alden.

“Wrong,” said the beaver.

“Mister Beaver?” asked Alden.

“Not even close,” said the beaver.

“I bet it’s Bamboo Beaver!” said Alden.

“You will never guess and you will never have more bamboo,” said the beaver. He waddled away.

Alden was angry. He decided to break his agreement.

He followed the beaver. “Look at this bamboo

forest!” Alden said. Tall bamboo grew in huge clumps.

It was lush and green. The beaver began to sing.
