Ricardo’s gone out and left me at home. It’s funny how I’m already calling it home. My place is back with my parents. Though I’m not sure how welcome I’ll be there given that neither of them is answering my calls.

At least I know they won’t lose the place to the bank. Thanks to Ricardo. The man my dad wants me to leave. Thinks I’m a fool for marrying.

Maybe he’s right. Maybe I am a fool. Would an intelligent sensible person do what I just did tonight?

I had sex in the open air. I’ve never done that before. None of the relationships I’ve been in, and there weren’t many, ever went beyond the bedroom. This was something utterly different.

Outside my comfort zone is an odd place to be. Particularly because it doesn’t feel that uncomfortable.

I like this house. I like sitting in this leather armchair by the window that overlooks the pond. I like reading in peace and thinking about not very much at all. That’s what I’d be doing right now if my mind wasn’t whirling with memories of what we just did.

Every time I blink I’m back there. The grass is damp on my knees. My hands dig into the ground, my face low to the earth, my ass in the air. He’s behind me, owning me in the most visceral and dominant way a man can own a woman. It felt so good, like nothing I’ve known. A fantasy come true and all because of him. He’s brought me out of myself since I’ve known him. He’s made me sing on stage. He’s made me suck his cock in the middle of the park. He’s made me see that I’m not who I thought I was. I’m someone different. Stronger. More like him.

I thought we were so different when we first met. Nothing in common at all. Now I know different. He reads Ben Elton books for one thing. Fan of Clark Gable. Into cheesy 80s movies. We’ve watched one together before bed every night this week. Made it through the Back to the Future trilogy and Ferris Bueller. He even agreed with the theory that Ferris is Cameron’s imaginary friend. No one ever agreed to that one before. Most people don’t even know what movie I’m referring to.

I’m hoping he won’t be too late back tonight. I’ve got Sixteen Candles planned, a John Hughes that he hasn’t actually seen. I told him how shocked and appalled I was by that fact and I got a laugh out of him for the first time.

It’s like he was frozen and he’s starting to thaw. It’s good to see him like this. Makes it possible to imagine him as the father of my child. Doing the whole doting parent thing. Ideally doing it together.

Do I tell him I want more than our short term thing? I really should. I can’t keep him thinking I’m only here for the money or for my own safety. That might have been true when we first met, but already my position has changed.
