Chapter 5: Quantum Entanglement and Teleportation
Quantum entanglement is indeed spooky – that’s something we can’t argue with. Truly, it often seems more like magic than science, but then, many parts of quantum physics wind up feeling this way. We still have much to learn and explain about the world, and quantum entanglement is among the most mysterious and least understood.
When two particles are entangled, it means that any change to one particle in the pair, no matter where that particle is in the universe, will result in compensation by the other particle. According to Einstein’s theory of relativity, the light was the fastest thing in observable existence, so this bothered him immensely. If, for example, a change in one entangled atom was made on Mars, and the other atom on Earth instantly shifted to compensate, this would be many times faster than the speed of light.
