Blair woke to the sound of clattering on the landing. Dom was currently the little spoon, so it had to be Charley. Not only was Blair waking up beside Dom, but it was the following day. The day after the night before. And boy did it feel good.

Her body ached in all the right places, some she didn’t believe worked anymore, but she struggled to care. Dom was sleeping in her arms, Blair was more than satiated, and the birds were chirping outside. Life couldn’t be any better this morning.

Blair zoned out of the noise in the hall, enjoying her arms being wrapped around Dom. She was used to waking up beside the man who abused her, but this was worlds apart. Blair was safe. Dom felt safe.

Blair snuggled closer, eyeing the alarm clock on the bedside table. It was nearly 7 a.m., almost time to get up. But did she really have to? Dom wasn’t working, Blair didn’t have a job…perhaps they could just stay like this until the end of time.

The subtle scent of Dom’s shampoo enveloped Blair. They’d taken a shower together last night before ordering food in and then retreating back to the bedroom. Now, in the light of day, Blair felt whole. At peace with who she was and where she’d been.

During her divorce process and therapy, Blair struggled with life. She wouldn’t have taken Barrett back to make it easier, but as she lay awake in bed at night, Blair wondered what her purpose was. She was jobless, loveless, and afraid.

Afraid for what was to come. Afraid that she couldn’t live alone. Afraid that she would never be good enough for anyone else…if she could find someone at all.

But then she started to see the light at the end of one very long tunnel.

Blair couldn’t be sure she would be this woman today without her therapy, it really had benefitted every aspect of her new life, but meeting someone like Dom certainly helped. When Blair thought she was way off the mark in showing up in Dom’s life, it appeared she wasn’t.

And then there was last night.

Wow.

Blair knew she was attracted to women, knew that she was a lesbian, but having Dom inside her was like coming home. Fi was nothing compared to Dom. Meaningless sex, forgettable. Blair should probably feel bad about that, but people had made it clear the kind of woman Fi was, so Blair had let it go and chose not to think about it since.

But she knew it had hurt Dom. Her actions, her selfishness, her jealousy.

This morning, however, Blair felt as though she had just slept with her first woman in twenty years. And Dom would learn that the moment she woke up. Blair wanted Dom to understand that last night was the first night of the rest of her life. Nothing before mattered, not even the last several weeks.

Blair’s hand sat on Dom’s stomach, their bodies moulded together. Dom’s back pressed against Blair’s front, and their legs tangled with one another’s.
