Pete and Curly had a problem.

The plan had been simple enough – once they were taken to the thieves’ lair, they would break out of the plaster as soon as they were alone.

Well, they were alone now, but the rest of the plan had gone a bit wrong. The plaster wouldn’t crack, no matter how hard they tried to move their arms and legs – and they tried really hard. They were trapped.

‘Do you think Brian and Tammy got the recipe wrong?’ asked Curly.

‘It looks like it. But we need to do something before those two primates get back,’ said Pete. He searched his brain for ideas, but found it empty. It was time to rely on his gut instead.

Pete sucked in air through his nostrils and filled his chest and tummy. An instant later, he blew all the air out, then sucked in more. He kept on doing this, inflating and deflating his big tummy until it took on a life of its own. It began to roll like the swell of the sea, and like the sea it was soon an unstoppable force.

Pete was balanced on only one foot, and now he began to sway in time to the uncontrolled rolling of his stomach. He rocked backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards, each time just a little bit further until … gravity kicked in and he went crashing to the floor.
