Choose the ISO right
ISO simply refers to the sensitivity of a cameraâs sensor to light. Every Canon DSLR camera will come with this feature so all you have to do is choose the best ISO value depending on the light conditions around you. When working with this, you have between 100-6400 to work with, which means that you can increase or decrease the light sensitivity of your camera depending on the amount of light in the surroundings. In essence, the higher the ISO number, the more sensitive the camera will be to light and vice versa. To put this into perspective, you will need low ISO level for bright light and high ISO number for darkly lit environment.
Choosing a low ISO means that a sensor will not need high sensitivity to achieve the best exposure. That means in very bright conditions, you should choose low ISO value, which will reduce your camera sensor sensitivity while at the same time resulting to high quality images. ISO values 100-200 are considered low sensitivity settings, and will always result in quality images without visible grains or noise.
High ISO settings on the other hand are advisable when you are shooting indoors where light intensity is quite low. The high value will make the sensor very sensitive therefore multiplying available light to suit the shooting conditions.
The downside of these settings is that the higher ISO values, the higher the noise, in which these grainy pixels image quality is reduced. So ensure that your ISO setting does not go beyond 200 on a sunny day, 800 during a cloudy day and 1600-3200 in an indoor shooting.
All Canon cameras come with Auto ISO setting which the sensor detects the light conditions and automatically decides the sensitivity. Regardless of this, try to use the lowest possible ISO to avoid increasing noise.
