4.3.3 Phishing URL Contains More Slashes

The number of slashes is important to look at when investigating phishing URLs. URLs that contain // are marked as phishing because the double slash is used to redirect users to another site. Phishing URLs employ this method to hide their real URL. An example of this attack is https://www.paypal.com//http://www.phishing.com. Some studies indicated that if a URL contains more than five slashes, then that URL should be considered a phishing URL.
