Compost bins made from bricks can be used to make a sturdier and more permanent feature in the garden.

You can then fill your brick structure with composted material. Cover with cardboard or a tarpaulin and leave for a year. When you are ready to use the compost, simply remove the bricks to access it.

If you wish to create a more permanent structure, you can mortar the bricks together, but leave a gap at the base wide enough for you to shovel out the compost once it has decomposed. While you are cementing the bricks together, it is possible to lean them inwards slightly on each row to form an attractive beehive-shaped composter.
