STUFFING THE TOYS

Toy stuffing is an essential component for toys. Don’t stuff the toys too fully or they will become solid and have no movement. You want the toys to be cuddly. Some of the projects require you to stuff the toys as you go along. This is generally when parts of a toy are long and narrow, such as Mummy and Baby Meerkat. This ensures you distribute an even amount of stuffing throughout the toy.

The stuffing I use is Minicraft Supersoft Toy Stuffing. It comes in bags of 250g (about 9oz) and is made of 100% polyester. If you can’t find this particular brand, other suitable brands should be available at haberdashery and craft stores. It is best to use stuffing designed especially for toys so that you can be sure that it is safe for children. Check for the safety logo before you buy it.

I always use my hands to put the stuffing in the toys. You can use your fingers to push the stuffing into small or fiddly pieces.
