Combining Somatic Bridge with Tunnel Visualization

Something I often do is to combine the Somatic Bridge technique with a visualization of going through a tunnel - See Through a Tunnel into a Past Life in this chapter in the sub-section on Age Regression. The Somatic Bridge focuses on the clients issue and a Tunnel Visualization is a great way to take people to another time and space. Together they provide a technique to go directly from the presenting issue to its initial sensitizing event.

First have the client focus on a feeling and have them locate the sensation in their body – it could be a physical pain, or a certain emotion, as long as they can feel it in their body, it will be fine.

After they locate that sensation in their body, have them objectify it – to give it a shape, a size, a colour, a density. After the sensation becomes an object, ask their awareness to go inside the centre of this object. From the centre, they perceive that a long tunnel starts to extend, leading towards the first time they ever felt this way.

From the centre, you notice there extends a long tunnel. You can’t see the end, but in a moment, you will be moving along the tunnel, all the way. I’ll be counting for you, from 20 to 1, and you’ll be moving along the tunnel. Go all the way. Where the tunnel ends, is where the ___________________ (sensation, pain or emotion) starts. Go all the way. When I reach the count of 1, you’ll be at the end of the tunnel. Entering the scene that has everything to do with why you are here today.
