USING A POST-IT CALENDAR AS A PLANNING CALENDAR We are huge fans of the Post-it calendar.

Sit with your child and explain the concept of this calendar. He has the choice to write down his class subjects or weekly activities on the far left column or just use the Post-its in the daily columns to indicate subjects. Then he needs to date the seven days of the week across the top of the next seven columns. If there is a long-term project, you should date the next page as well and place a Post-it on the due date of the project. Look again at the Post-it calendar on Chapter 3.

One of the greatest aspects of this calendar is that your child can write the task on a Post-it, and when he has completed the task, he can throw the Post-it away. No more crossing out or creating holes in the paper from pressing on the pen too hard. The gradual unveiling of a clean calendar as the week transpires is quite visually pleasing. (Some children, though, like to write some assignments directly on the calendar.)
