The Omega actually flinched at the sudden movement, which made Bastion’s heart ache. “I heard you yelling,” Harley said softly, looking flustered. “I just wanted to make sure you were ok, but I didn’t realize you were on the phone. I’m sorry for barging in.” He reached for the doorknob as if to leave.

“Wait. If anyone should be apologizing, it’s me,” Bastion answered. “I was an asshole to you on the car ride home. I’m really sorry, Harley. It won’t happen again.”

The Omega looked startled. “It’s ok,” he said. “I understand.”

“Well, it’s not ok, but thank you. Things are just… weird today.” Bastion glanced at the wreckage of his phone to avoid Harley’s gaze. God, he was a mess. What was going on?

His train of thought was interrupted by a very loud growl; it took Bastion a moment to realize that it had come from Harley’s stomach. The Omega turned an adorable shade of pink and grabbed his midsection. “Well, I’ll leave you alone,” he said.

“Hold up,” Bastion blurted. “Listen, if you’re hungry, let me take you to get some dinner to make up for being a dick earlier. And I mean real food, not those three leaves that those fancy restaurant people had the nerve to call a salad.”

Harley shook his head, but he smiled. “No, I'm fine. I’ll just eat a granola bar or something.”

“A granola bar? Princess, you can’t survive on rabbit food. Come on. Just trust me.”

Harley scowled at him, but the light had come back into his eyes, which relieved Bastion to no end. “Where are we going?”

Bastion grinned. “You’ll see.”

It took him until they reached the parking lot to notice that Harley was no longer wearing the collar.
