Bastion
“What the fuck are you doing in here?” Bastion growled. Did he know? He stood up, facing the man as he leaned against the doorframe, looking like the cat who had just polished off several canaries.
His father shrugged. “I was just heading to the restroom when I saw that adorable little Harley rejoining the party. He looked happy.”
“So?”
Bastion could hear his father take a deep breath, a triumphant smirk curling his lips. “And so do you. Or you did, anyway, until I came in. And for some reason, it smells like sex in here. What a curious coincidence.” The old man snickered. “I hope you get to be a better liar, Bastion. You’re going to need it when you’re running the company.”
Bastion clenched his fists. “Fuck your company and fuck you,” he spat. “I told you already, I don’t want any part of your little plan. So stay out of this.”
His father arched an eyebrow, taking a step closer. “Are you so noble that you don’t need the money? You really think you can support that hot little Omega all by yourself? He’s not used to slumming it like you are, you know. Are you going to take him from the lap of luxury to a one-room apartment and ramen noodles every night? How long do you think that’s going to last?”
No, he was wrong. Harley wasn’t like that. Was he? Bastion fought to keep his face expressionless, but the little pinprick of doubt that he felt must have given him away.
His father smirked. “Ah, so you have given it some thought. I’m not surprised. You seem like a logical young Alpha. So why are you still resisting?”
Bastion scowled at his father, his doubt stealing any chance of a witty response. The old man used the opportunity to continue talking, his voice low, reasonable.
“How do you lose, Bastion? You get your precious Omega. You get the company and a ton of money. And you get the respectability that comes from being my heir. Not to mention you get to ruin your brother’s life, which I get the impression you’ll enjoy quite a bit.”
Bastion stared at his father. Something didn’t quite add up here. “What have you got against Grant, anyway? It seems like he’s you all over again.”
His father shrugged nonchalantly. “He’s clearly not cutthroat enough. If he can’t get one little Omega with all his looks and money and charm, then how is he going to get anywhere? Where as you, with this…” His father gestured to Bastion’s jeans with a smirk. “Can steal the little slut from under his nose!”
“Don’t you dare talk about Harley that way.”
His father chuckled. “All Omegas are sluts, Bastion. You’ll learn that soon enough. Just look at Harley, moving so quickly from Grant to you. Or hell, look at your mother!”
Bastion saw red. He leaped to his feet and lunged at his father. The older man dodged back, surprisingly fast, but Bastion still managed to get ahold of his collar. They crashed through
