CHAPTER ELEVEN

“Do not follow me!”

Tori slammed the door behind her, not caring that her infuriating roommate was a few angry steps behind. He managed to grab the door before it shut. She could hear his hard, heavy footsteps slam against the flooring as his hand caught her arm, swivelling around to face him.

“You want to let go of my arm, asshole?” Tori glared at where his hand caught her arm.

Zac didn’t flinch, not batting an eyelid to her question. Instead, he pulled her closer, watching the fragments of her discomfort illuminate in those big molten brown eyes.

“I hate you and your stupid friends -“

“You want to tell me what you were doing?” He changed the subject.

“Excuse me?” Tori raised her eyebrows. “What have I done wrong here?”

He moved closer until she could see the sharpness of his cheekbones, angled in a way that send butterflies to her stomach. “You think I wouldn’t see that you were doing with him?”

Isaac.

So he was watching after all.

A sick part of her relished in the thought she had got on his nerves, touching his sensitive spot. But then it confused her; why would her personal life make him jealous?

Was there something else in her past that she didn’t know?

Were they intimate?

No, that wasn’t even in the realm of possibility. Trent would have told her. Anyone would have told her that she was romantically involved with Zac-motherfucking-Carter.

So why did he keep searching for her with that expression?

Torn and full of longing.

“Isaac’s my friend,” Tori said tightly.

“Is that all he is?”

“It’s none of your business.”

“Answer the question.”

“No,” she narrowed her eyes.

“Tori,” he growled.

“No, I don’t have answer a damn thing. Whoever is to me, is none of your business. If I’m friends with him or fucking him, it has absolutely nothing to do with you.”

She didn’t miss the way his eyes flared at the ‘fucking’ part.

No doubt.

He was jealous.

And a wild part of her wanted to push his buttons some more. Seeing how far she could test his thin threads of patience. He was at his tipping point, she was sure.

“Are you jealous of Isaac?”

“You’re goddamn right I am,” Zac said in a lower voice, without hesitating. The tone and the darkness in his eyes threw her off; he admitted it so readily with a demeanour like an animal starved.

Starved of her.

“That’s so stupid, why would you -“

“Because it’s not fucking fair!” He shouted. Zac paused, letting out a shaky exhale before his fierce gaze penetrated her stare. “Because he gets to see that smile that I’ve fucking ached for. He gets to see the girl that won’t show herself to anyone. He gets to see you. All of you.” Zac uttered harshly.

There was pure venom in his voice. It was a juxtaposition with his startling, passionate words. Without taking his eyes off her puzzled face, his hands travelled dangerously up her arm, trailing down over her chest, gently and carefully stopping by the skin of her stomach, just underneath her shirt. Tori sucked in a harsh breath, not trusting herself to speak.
