Before arriving at Kendra’s flat, Trevor received a call.

Trevor, this is Brodie. How’s it going, fella?’ Dabbs asked, sounding cheerful.

‘I’m good, mate, you sound happy, what’s going on?’

‘I tell you what’s going on, Trev, I have a plan to get my operation back, but I’ll need your help.’

‘Happy to help, Brodie; and actually, you might get more than you expected this time. I’ve enlisted the help of some very powerful people to take on the triads.’

‘That’s why I was calling, to see if you could recruit a bunch of people to help me out,’ Brodie exclaimed.

‘I’m planning to do a lot more than that, mate. What were you planning to do with these people?’ Trevor asked, intrigued by what Brodie hoped to do against an army of more than two hundred.

‘When I was in trouble with the Albanians last month, I made contact with the police and asked them to help me out,’ Brodie said. ‘So, I reached out and asked them to help me again.’

‘Seriously? You’ve enlisted the help of the police? How the hell did you manage that? How can the boss of one of the largest gangs in London get any help from the police?’

‘Technically, it’s now ex-boss, but that’s not an issue. I know you may not like this and I’m asking you… trusting you to keep this to yourself, but I’ve cut a deal with them. In exchange for helping me take out the triads, I will give them information about the other gangs in London and their operations. It’s a win-win, I get my operation back and thin the competition.’

‘That sounds too easy, Brodie; a lot of things can go wrong. You know that, right?’

‘Of course, I’m not an idiot. I’ll always have a back-up plan, just as I did in this instance, so don’t worry about me. Will you help me, then?’

‘Yes, but hold off for a while, I need to know how things are going to pan out in the next day or two. I need you to send me a number I can reach you on, this one you’re using showed as No Caller ID,’ Trevor said.

‘I’ll text you. When you know more, call me back, okay?’ Brodie said.

‘Of course. Glad to hear you so cheerful again, Brodie, it’ll be good to have you back in charge again soon.’

They ended the call just as Trevor arrived at Kendra’s flat. He saw her car parked and knew they’d both beaten him there.

Things are gonna get very interesting in the next few days, he thought as he walked towards the flat.
