Chapter Thirteen
Alex
I looked up as Faith walked into the bedroom. The fluffy white hotel towel was wrapped around her like a sarong, and her long hair was twisted up in another towel like a turban.
âFeel better?â I asked. Sheâd been quiet since sheâd returned from the desert. After filling me in on their failure to find any trace of Cain, Iâd realised she was disheartened as well as hot, sweaty, and covered in sand. Iâd steered her in the direction of the spacious bathroom that adjoined our room with Eurielâs.
She flopped onto the bed, the towel turban collapsing with the impact. She pulled it off and chucked it to the floor, letting her dark red curls spill out over the white hotel sheets. I tried not to think about how they looked like blood trails. I was getting hungry again. Feeding from Faith had me feeling the best I ever had in my life. I felt stronger, faster, my senses were even more heightened, and I could heal quicker than before. But now I craved her and I needed to feed more often. I just hated asking her. I never wanted her to feel like that was all she was to me.
âAlex?â
Her soft voice broke into my thoughts, and I looked back at her face. âHuh?â
âYou zoned out there on me for a moment. I said I was feeling much better.â
I smiled. âI should think so. I think you pretty much used up all the water in the city considering how long you were in there.â
She raised up on one elbow and glared at me. âUh-huh. Why donât you go and wander around the desert for twelve hours in the baking sun and see how you feel when you come back? Seriously, there was sand in places you really donât want sand, especially when youâre a girl.â
I laughed and sat down on the bed next to her. âSo youâre sand free now then?â
âThankfully.â She rolled onto her back, staring up at the ceiling, and I watched her, enjoying how the towel had risen up her legs, leaving only a dark shadow at their junction.
âSo what do we need to do now?â she questioned. âHow are we going to find these members of the Order of Lizpha? I hardly think theyâre going to be on Google.â
I leant back and placed my hand on her ankle. âNo, I think youâd be right about that. I think itâs going to take proper groundwork to find these guys.â I started to massage the muscles in her calf, running my hands up and down to relieve the tension I could feel. She moaned in relief.
âTurn over,â I directed, loving how she followed my commands without hesitation. As she did, the towel slipped up even farther, and I was rewarded with a fine view of her perfect ass. I shuffled back to kneel between her ankles and started massaging her calves again, digging right into the muscles to loosen them. A muffled groan came from where her face was planted straight into the soft duvet.
