Topias arrived at the destination within thirty minutes, despite heavier lunchtime traffic. He strode to the door, waving at an unmarked police car across the street. As he did so, its occupant immediately sat up straighter and acknowledged him.

Before he was able to ring the bell, the door opened. A sad young woman appeared before him. He could immediately tell she'd been crying.

Petra wore a short pink t-shirt revealing her trim waist and fashionably ripped jeans cropped above the ankles. Her feet were on display as usual. She meekly welcomed him into the apartment.

"Are you okay?" Topias asked with concern.

"No. I'm not, really. Things have been tough in the last days, and they're not getting any easier."

She led the way into the living room and offered coffee. Topias gratefully accepted it and set about determining if any new reason or event had caused this mood change.

Petra brought two cups back from the kitchen and took a sip from one, placing his on a mat on the coffee table. Then, she sat next to him and waited for his questions.

"Is there anything you'd like to tell me?" he questioned.

Petra looked at him, opening her eyes wide.

"I'm sorry, Topias. I just needed you last night. I woke up this morning thinking you didn't care about me anymore. I don't feel safe. I need you."

Much to Topias' amazement, Petra got up from where she was sitting and promptly sat on his lap. She leaned in, closer to him, taking his hands and placing them on her body. They naturally moved closer, and clothes were discarded.
