challenge There is no time limit on giving, there is no best time to begin. What I would like is for “sometime” to become now, and so I want to challenge you. Today, decide upon a few random acts of kindness that inspire you, that wake you up and plant a seed of compassion that you want to see grow. This can be anything. This can be done anywhere. You don’t have to pay off someone’s entire Walmart layaway bill, nor do you have to work at a soup kitchen for the next week. You can do anything as long as it is kind, aimed with compassion, and feels necessary to you. Do this act, these acts, without any memorialization, without any photographs, without any sharing of any kind of the act being completed. And even more, do them anonymously, from start to finish. Like our North Pole Ninjas, hide the fact that you are doing these acts, and let the satisfaction you receive be enough. I promise, it is enough. Reframing the way we see kindness like this can also reframe the way we approach compassion in our lives: less a thing to be rewarded for, more a thing to be done because there is no other way.
