I sprint down the hallway in my haste to get to physics class. I’m nearly ten minutes late. I slept through three freaking alarms. I’m out of sorts and feeling totally blah. I’m not wearing any makeup and my hair resembles Donnie from The Wild Thornberrys. Yesterday’s fight took an emotional toll on me.

The bastard finally put a crack in my armor, but the war isn’t over. I took a nice long, hot shower after getting home, then cocooned myself in bed. I shouldn’t have gone to Maverick’s house. I’m usually a levelheaded person, but he makes me impulsive.

My rash behavior got a knife stuck up my cooch but also the best oral sex ever. His wonderful mouth… goddamn his fucking wonderfully talented mouth.

Maverick sucked the soul out of my vajayjay. His head game gives a whole new meaning to “What that mouth do?” Hands down, his is a coochie slayer. Ugh! It’s not fair. How can he have good looks, an athletic body, big dick, and awesome clit mastering abilities? I bet he fucks amazing too. I bustle into the classroom.

“Thank you for gracing us with your presence, Cocoa.” Mr. Barnes’s snarky tone grates on my nerves.

I mentally roll my eyes. He can shove his snarky attitude where the sun don’t shine.

“Sorry,” I mumble and scuttle to the back of the classroom.

Maverick’s intense gaze pierces me to the marrow, slowly perusing me from head to toe. The asshole decided to show today. I mouth fuck you at him and he smiles. I’d love to karate chop that smug look right off his face. I plonk down in my chair.

“Maverick, Cocoa.” Mr. Barnes spreads his arms, encompassing the class. “We’re all waiting.”

Everyone eyes us expectantly.

“We’re ready,” Maverick says.

Well, that’s surprising. What’s his angle? He saunters to the front of the class. Could he be planning to embarrass me somehow? His sudden cooperation is suspect. I know better than to underestimate him. Did he even read the damn notes? I grab the flash drive from my backpack and plug it into the laptop beside Mr. Barnes’s desk. The moment of truth is here and my final grade hangs in the balance. I stand next to Maverick by the smart board, now displaying the title slide of the presentation.

“Don’t fuck this up,” I whisper.

“Have a little faith.” He smirks.

“Says the snake to the mouse,” I retort.

I pluck the remote off the tray and get started.

Twenty minutes later, we’re done. Astonishingly, everything went smoothly, and Maverick did good.
