Jakey and I tiptoe inside. I start drawing a picture of how I imagine Not-So-Jolly Roger to look. I draw his fingers and toes perfectly, and Jakey turns his Lego ship into a treasure chest.

After a while we get bored and sneak back to our ship. Captain No Beard is finally asleep. But where is Marge?

‘Marge?’ I whisper, peeping behind our ship.

But she doesn’t reply.

Jakey checks the garden and even inside Zara’s pram. We can’t see her anywhere – our babysitter has disappeared! Suddenly I remember that the whole house is a mess from when Zara ran away, and from us creating our wonderful pirate costumes …

Just as I start worrying we hear a car in the driveway. Uh–oh – there’s no time to find Marge now, and no time to tidy up! I hope Mummy understands that we couldn’t do anything on her list because Zara ate it!

‘Parents AHOY!’ I call in my pirate voice.

If Marge hears me, she’ll know that the grown-ups are home.

As Mummy and Auntie Sally walk towards us, smiling, Marge suddenly appears on the other side of the ship, where I was just looking a moment ago. Her pirate beard is gone and all her amazing hair is hidden away under her hat. Our pirate nanny looks like a regular babysitter again.
