“Are you sure he said this would work?” Juno and Skylar crossed the road from the twenty-four-hour drug store to the large Tour bus.

“He said as long as we flush it and keep giving her fluids, she should be alright.” Juno tapped on the keypad and they headed up into the bus. Naomi was sitting beside Gabriella, who still hadn’t moved.

“How’s she doing?”

“I think she’s okay.” She got up, swapping with Juno.

Skylar’s phone rang. “Guys, I’ve gotta take this.” Taking one last look at Gabriella’s pale frame, Skylar headed back outside.

“Hey.”

“Sky? Hey, you alright?” Skylar sighed with relief, hearing her sister’s voice.

“I need someone to pick up some evidence.”

“This time of morning?!” Skylar leaned back against the bus. Her body was going into shock.

“Mae, I just found Gabriella! She’s been poisoned or something, a chemical on her...her necklace she was wearing. It was eating away at her skin. Oh god!” Skylar’s voice broke. “She’s sick, Mae! Dayna gave it to her when I was home with you.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes!” Skylar teared up. Mae heard her.

“Sis, I’m sending someone now. Is your GPS on?”

Skylar nodded. “Yeah.”

“Okay, we’ll find you, and I’ll send a car to pick it up.”

“K” The line went quiet.

“Skylar?”

“Yeah?”

“You ok, sis?”

“Noo.” Skylar cried.

“Is someone there with you?”

Skylar wiped her eyes, feeling around for the lolly bag in her jacket. “Ah yeah, I’m not alone.”

“K. I’ll ring you when I know someone is on their way, alright?”

“K.”

“Hey, Sis, good work, you’ll make a great cop.”

“Ha.” Skylar held up the lolly bag of weed in her hand.

“Yeah, sure.”

Hanging up, she pushed off the bus, heading over to the building steps where the bus was parked in front. She didn’t care anymore; she needed a smoke.

Naomi walked out of the bus into the night, taking a deep breath. This was insane!

Digging her hands into her pockets, she looked around for Skylar. Hearing boots on the road, Skylar looked up and seeing Naomi coming around the bus.

“Shit!”

Naomi noticed her sitting there in the dark. Then she smelt it.

“Skylar?!” She sat down beside her. “You got pot?!”

Skylar shrugged. She didn’t care. “Don’t judge me.”

She made the smoke visible. “Seriously, do you blame me?!”

Naomi could just make out the wet trails on the girls’ cheeks. “No, no, I don’t.” Her eye fell on the brown paper bag down by the girl’s boot.

“Is someone coming to pick that up?”

“Just waiting for the call.” She took a puff, offering it to Naomi. Naomi declined. She noticed the girl’s leg shaking like crazy.

“Are you alright?”

“Not really.” Skylar sighed. “I had my suspicions, but that just...” She dropped her head, trying to hold back her emotions. The tears were closing in again. Naomi moved closer, wrapping her arm around her shoulder. Skylar couldn’t hold it anymore.

She let it all go.

Juno stepped out of the bus breathing in the fresh air. She walked around the bus, seeing Naomi on the step.

“Is she ok?” Naomi asked as Skylar also came around the back of the bus towards them.

“Yeah, She’s coming around.
