Elira spent the rest of the long flight cuddled up between the two alpha men and she had to admit, she never felt so safe in her life. They deplaned and got through customs and when they gathered their luggage, she turned to find Llir having a heated discussion with a man who looked a lot like him.
âThatâs his brother, Altin,â Tarek whispered. âIâve never met him but Llir seems to think we can trust him.â
âWhat do you think?â she asked.
âIâm not sure yet. Besides Llir, I donât trust anyone else with the last name Tirana. He called his brother just before we left the airport in Albania. He thinks Altin wonât turn us over to his father. He said, that out of both of his brothers, Altin hates what his family stands for the most. Heâs apparently been trying to get out of the Tirana syndicate for years now. Itâs why he lives in Americaâless interaction with his father that way.â
âDoes he work for his father?â she asked.
âYes,â Tarek said. âBut according to Llir, he wants out too.â
âHow will we know if heâll help us?â she whispered. âHow will we know if heâs on our side?â
âWe canât know for sure,â Tarek admitted. âHeâll either call his father, to turn us in, or he wonât. Itâs as simple as that.â
âThey canât make us go back to Albania, right?â she asked.
âI have no idea,â Tarek said. âI know that Alek Tiranaâs reach is far and his word is powerful. How that plays out for us remains to be seen.â She watched Llir as he seemed to listen to his brother. Altin didnât seem very pleased with his older brother, and Elira felt as though she was holding her breath, waiting for Altin to make up his mind as to what to do about the three of them. When his brother nodded and pulled Llir in for a hug, she let out the breath she had been holding.
âThank fuck,â Tarek breathed. Llir and Altin walked across the almost empty terminal and she couldnât help her smile. He looked so much like Llir except Altin seemed to have the weight of the world on his broad shoulders. Elira wondered if that was how Llir used to feel before he met her. He seemed so uptight the night he took her, but now, Llir was more laid back and she had a feeling that had everything to do with walking away from the demands of his family.
âGuys, this is Altin, my brother,â Llir said.
âGood to meet you, Altin. Iâm Tarek and this is Elira.â He held out his hand and Altin shook it and then turned to offer it to Elira. She shook Altinâs hand and nodded.
âGood to meet you,â she almost whispered.
âYou too,â he said. âIâve heard a lot about you already, Elira. Although, Iâm not sure that what Iâve been told is one hundred percent true.â
âItâs not,â Llir spat. âFather told you things to make you want to turn her over. Sheâs
