The Holy Spirit does not make a person feel driven. The truth that comes from the Spirit is firm and persistent, but can be welcomed in peace, so as to be thought about and understood. Any disproportionate sense of anxiety or urgency about what the soul is being taught may well be a sign that emotional healing is needed before we can see moral truth clearly. This is why mental healthcare can be seen as an ally to moral truth-finding in the Catholic tradition, not an interloper. Christ wants us fully healed and integratedâemotionally, morally, and spiritually.
