Chapter Six

Dominic didn’t want to leave Lilly. He especially didn’t want to wait until Thursday to take her to dinner, but she hadn’t invited him to be part of her Halloween. Dom loved the holiday. Bourbon Street was wild on a normal night, but Halloween was especially fraught with all manner of costume. In the last few years, he stopped joining in the celebration and remained home where he handed out candy to the kids who braved knocking on his door. Dominic adored children, and now that he had a mate? He hoped Lilly wanted a houseful.

With Gregor’s request for Dom to take care of Jacques Dupart, Sully was on guard duty. Short of killing the man, Dom wasn’t sure how to go about taking down Dupart. His bar on Ursulines was a front for his business. Dom knew that. The cops knew that, yet they’d not been able to prove it. Dupart was sneaky. Good at hiding what went on behind closed doors. He was staring out the back window of his office when his phone rang.

“Sully?”

“Lilly had a visitor. An ex-boyfriend. He was asking about Tabitha Stone. Said he was sent by his boss, Jacques Dupart.”

Fucking hell. “Tell me everything.”

After Sully finished recounting every word between Lilly and this Cameron douche, Dominic was ready to find the human and take him out. Sully assured Dom Lilly was fine, but no one threatened his mate.

“Where are you now?”

“Fontaine Manor. Lilly had auction items for the Witch’s Soirée. She and Simone greeted each other warmly, and they’ve been inside for a while.”

Dominic had met both Greyson and Simone Fontaine several times over the years. Simone was a voodoo practitioner, and Greyson was a witch. The couple met at Spirits, a bar that catered to the supernatural crowd. It was one of New Orleans best kept secrets in that if you were human, you couldn’t find the door.

“Keep your eye on Lilly. I’m going to figure out what to do about Dupart.”

“You got it, Boss.”

Dominic paced his office. He had already called Gregor’s cousin Julian, so he was waiting on the computer genius to get back with any information he could find on Jacques. When the call came in, the information wasn’t what Dominic expected to hear.
