Silence is the backdrop for all organic collaboration. Cultivating a capacity to be in silence and resonate with its feel allows us to become present to possibility. Think back to a time when you were in a meeting discussing a problem and the tension became noticeable. As the tension increased, how did your peers behave? Typically, when I ask that question, I’m told that they couldn’t hold the tension or the silence. When we speak or act from a place of anxiety, we eliminate the possible; but, when we allow the tension to do its work, we are cultivating an innate capacity to be with silence. Silence is the place where an infinite number of possibilities exists.
