Best feeding habits

So, what can we do to ensure proper feeding habits in our pet? The Labrador Site online has some excellent advice on how to care for your pet. It states two ways to feed your dog.

- Raw meat & bones

- Kibble

Kibble is what you buy in the store. These are dog pellets that come dry in various flavors. Labradors seem to love it, so this is a good choice to try.

Raw food is also another alternative. However, you need to discuss this with your parents or an adult to see if this is possible. If not, stick to what you know.

If your Labrador is still young, like a puppy, you can learn to feed them and this can extend into adult life. Here are some great ideas on how to feed your puppy.

If you got the puppy before the recommended 8 week time-frame, it might be a good idea to contact your vet for a checkup. You just want to make sure your puppy is in good health and doing well. You could also ask the vet for advice on how to care for your little pet.

Then you can purchase dog food appropriate to the age of the retriever. In this case it would be kibble for puppies. However, don’t just buy any brand you find. Read the back carefully, or ask an adult for help. You want to choose the right food so your puppy can develop healthy and strong!

Give our pet lots of water, because young and older dogs need water during the day. Dogs that eat kibble will drink more water than dogs fed on raw food, so you may want to take this into account.

Divide the amount of food during the day into smaller portions instead of just one big meal. Do you know why? Have you ever gotten a tummy ache because you ate too much food? The same thing can happen to your pet! If he / she eat too much food at one time they can get diarrhea or even or hurt their little stomach for a long time. So give them smaller portions throughout the day.
