Where shall wisdom be found?

And where is the place of understanding?

Mortals do not know the way to it,

and it is not found in the land of the living. (Job 28:12–13)

But as in Ben Sira 24, the peoples of the earth could not learn about wisdom on their own; yet in Israel Wisdom can be found:

God gave her to his servant Jacob,

and to Israel whom he loved. . . .

She is the book of the commandments of God,

the law that endures forever.

Happy are we, O Israel, for we know what is pleasing to God. (Bar 3:36; 4:1, 4)
