Chapter 5
Getting Butts In Seats
Now, how do we get agents to actually show up? It all starts with your topic. What’s the compelling headline, offer or reason to attend your event? It’s got to be something that stops them in their tracks, captures their attention and has them saying…“this is for me!”
Earlier we mentioned that many Loan Officers who attempt to host seminars for agents wind up disappointed with the attendance. Usually, poor attendance is just a symptom of a larger problem – which can be cured.
Does your event, the title, copy and marketing collateral (online and offline) address one or all of our four key factors for agents we learned earlier ?
Shock and Awe
That means when you launch a “shock and awe” marketing campaign that goes both wide and deep. You involve other people to assist you in carrying out your mission. People like Title, Escrow, Home Inspection, Home Warranty, Insurance, Appraisers and other affiliate members of your local Board.
Why involve others like Title, Escrow and Home Warranty? Because these reps are in the real estate offices every single day, they have access to the closed offices, top producers and key influencers.
Your Unpaid Sales Force
Affiliates like Title, Escrow, Home Warranty and others are as my friend and Coach Tim Davis refers to as; “your unpaid sales force.” They will help you get the word out about your seminar – at no cost to you. Some of these affiliates will likely even become sponsors of your event, helping you cover your costs!
Even with tighter rules placed on Title companies, most will still hand out your seminar flyers for you to agents and offices they see every day. They just want something that will add value to their real estate agents’ business as well, just like you do.
They’re going to be your salespeople, your boots on the ground, handing out hundreds of flyers for you to offices you would otherwise never get into. So that’s number one. Find good affiliates or other people to help you promote the event .
Event Marketing with Facebook
1) I recommend having your own event registration page outside of Facebook. Use a free site like www. eventbrite.com It integrates directly into Facebook and provides superior tracking and promotion related tools – free!
The more Facebook Likes, Twitter retweets, LinkedIn shares etc. on your blog posts and web pages the more visitors will perceive your content or seminar as being popular and will also want to share. The best place to position your social share buttons is at the top “above the fold” (visible without scrolling).
Add the following social share buttons to your event registration page if possible:
* TweetMeme Retweet Button
* Facebook Like Button
* Google + Button
* LinkedIn Share Button 2) Add a blurb to your Facebook Page banner.
The image on your Facebook Page is prime real estate. Consider using your page image/banner with a link to get on a list to be notified of free seminars etc. You could also add images about the event to your Page to go across the top of your page with calls to action.
