Another restless night had me looking like a zombie. Staring at my face in the mirror, I ran the pads of my forefingers along the circles under my eyes and sighed. With no toiletries and clothing, I was seriously starting to shrivel up. Shaking my head, I glanced away at the knock on my bedroom door.
While part of me hoped it wasnât Salvatore after yesterdayâs bizarre day with him, I accepted that I had no choice in the matter of whether I wanted to see him or not. I crossed the room on a slow drag of feet then perked up when I opened the door to Rosanaâs smiling face.
âMorning, signora .â She didnât enter when I stood back to allow her into the room. âDid you sleep well?â When I shook my head, she held out a hand. âCome, I have the perfect thing for you.â
Frowning, I followed her down the hallways until we reached the back end of the property. She opened a door and I gasped at the large pool that sat half indoors and half outdoors. âWhy the treat, Rosana.â I fingered the little quartz stones on a shelf.
âItâs your wedding day, signora and no matter what a bride as pretty as you, deserves to be pampered,â her rapid Italian had me glancing at her with a hesitant smile, not wanting to be reminded that I was to marry the devil.
âThank you.â I sighed.
âI will come back to fetch you in an hour and a half, okay.â
âRosana?â I stopped her before she could leave and she looked at me. âWould you please be my maid of honor?â
Her eyes widened before they watered, bringing tears to mine as well. âOf course, signora . It will be my honor.â She palmed my cheek softly.
âThank you,â I replied, stepping toward Olivia who held out a robe and pointed to a screen in the corner of the room.
Taking the robe, I smiled. âI might as well make the most of it,â I mumbled to myself.
Two hours later, relaxed and drowsy, I stood outside the walk-in closet in my room, mouth agape. While my mother had made sure that Harsh received more
